Everton Blender - Live In Berkeley

This version of Emily Bronte’s tale of star-crossed lovers Cathy and Heathcliff was filmed on location in Yorkshire, England. (1 hr. 45 min.)Wuthering Heights

ROYAL WEDDING: Dancing and romance collide in ROYAL WEDDING as a brother-sister dance team (Fred Astaire and Jane Powell) open their musical show in London shortly before the English royal wedding and find love of their own. Showcasing some of Astaire’s most memorable dance scenes in film history–Astaire’s hat-rack partner and his dancing on the ceiling (impressive even to those jaded by special effects)–this tale of finding true love when it’s least expected, and least wanted, has delighted audiences since the movie’s release in 1951.

Flirty Ellen and dance-focused Tom have escaped the clutches of many marriage-minded partners, keeping their joint entertainment careers their first priority. When they leave New York to sail for London to open a new musical show, Ellen leaves behind many besotted men but no regrets. But when a ladies’ man (and lord) falls hard for Ellen, and a British girl in the dance chorus needs Tom’s help to locate her fianc?, both brother and sister realize that this time love must come first.

THE BELLE OF NEW YORK: Turn-of-the-century New York City. Astaire is Charlie Hill, a playboy who falls head-over-heels in love with Angela Bonfils (Vera-Ellen), a mission worker, and attempts to woo her with his charm, dancing ability, and singing voice. Songs include: “I Wanna Be a Dancin’ Man”, “Let a Little Love Come In”, “Baby Doll”, “Oops”, “Seeing’s Believing”, “Naughty but Nice”, and “Bachelor’s Dinner Song.”Royal Wedding/The Belle of New York

NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE AT TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2007
IN THEATRES AUGUST 10, 2007 (Limited)

Julie Delpy’s breezily hilarious feature follows French-born Marion (Delpy) and Jack (Adam Goldberg), her American boyfriend (of two years), on a two-day stop through Paris, where Marion has purchased a tiny apartment one floor up from her rowdy, eccentric parents (played with great ability by Delpy’s actual parents). Just passing through after an Italian getaway, the lovebirds are unprepared for the many relationship tests soon thrown their way in the notoriously romantic city. Avoiding the metro on account of Jack’s terrorism fears, the couple treks about the city by foot and cabs, getting into several vicious brawls with French cabbies, waiters, and a string of men from Marions past. When Jack discovers how many of Marion’s so called “friends” she used to be intimate with, the trip becomes overshadowed by paranoia. This suspicion would be easy to brush off if only Jack spoke the language, or if all of Marion’s exes didnt insist on multiplying.

Delpy, who penned, directed, and stars in the feature, has created a truly charming film. Thanks to clever writing and great chemistry, Delpy and Goldberg’s onscreen relationship feels completely natural and genuine. Delpy saves her characters from being too precious by balancing their entertaining dialogue with human flaws. Though a story with this premise could easily veer off into a typical culture clash comedy, 2 DAYS IN PARIS moves past that to explore the problems of relationships at large in a lyrical way. While in the same general vein of the classic talk-heavy Richard Linklater film BEFORE SUNRISE, 2 DAYS IN PARIS has more in common with the film’s somber 2004 sequel, BEFORE SUNSET (which Delpy co-wrote). That said, the film counters its thoughtful scenes with lighthearted ones, so it never becomes contrived or bogged down. Like BEFORE SUNSET, 2 DAYS BEFORE PARIS leads up to a whimsical conclusion which is beautiful in its simplicity. The film pulls off what Marion, a photographer, struggles with throughout, torn between the compulsion to capture a moment on film while desiring to be really in the moment itself.2 Days in Paris opens August 10th, 2007 (limited)

Asphalt Adventures

Inspired by an odd??leap in “frog tattoo” searches, we checked on the menagerie of animal body art. Because the beasts in question aren’t standard barnyard fare, we found quite a few interesting ink choices in our top 20 animal tattoo searches.

In the top spot, the delicate butterfly symbolizes metamorphosis, so it’s no surprise that deep thinkers flock to this tattoo to represent their changing moods. Following the wings of the butterfly are 19 other critters emblazoned on arms, backs, and legs all over the world…

 1. Butterfly Tattoos
 2. Dragonfly Tattoos
 3. Koi Fish Tattoos
 4. Scorpion Tattoos
 5. Tiger Tattoos
 6. Dolphin Tattoos
 7. Lion Tattoos
 8. Dove Tattoos
 9. Sparrow Tattoos
 10. Eagle Tattoos
 1. Ladybug Tattoos
 2. Frog Tattoos
 3. Wolf Tattoos
 4. Turtle Tattoos
 5. Snake Tattoos
 6. Cat Tattoos
 7. Panther Tattoos
 8. Hummingbird Tattoos
 9. Horse Tattoos
 10. Bear Tattoos

A couple final drops of ink…

?We were a bit surprised that dogs didn’t bark loud enough to make our top 20. We could blame it on the wide variety of breeds splitting the Search vote. Or the fact that you don’t find many Shih Tzu owners into body art. Either way, the top three breeds in Buzz are “bulldog tattoos,” “pitbull tattoos,” and “rottweiler tattoos.”

?Fish usually symbolize knowledge?but folks searching on “coy fish tattoo” should go back to the drawing board. Other popular fish tattoo searches swimming throught the Buzz included: “pisces fish tattoos,” “jesus fish tattoos,” and “tribal fish tattoos.”

What Inky Beast?

As fans prepare for the release of That Book Whose Ending Must Not Be Spoiled, we’ve noticed that one particular group of readers is waiting, hoping, and worrying about the fellow they love. “I have to admit I was NEVER this nervous,” confesses one devoted webmistress. Concerned over the fate of Harry James Potter? Well, sure, they’re curious about whether Harry lives or dies, but the hearts of these fans pound with another question: What becomes of their beloved Severus Snape? Will the Half-Blood Prince turn out to be evil or good?

Fan site “itrustsnape.com” has inspired a robust search attendance and boasts a Trust List nearly 2,000 names strong. These fans believe in their man, despite the fact that he was the reason behind Book 6 search spikes like “snape kills dumbledore.” Queries??these days??are more along the lines of “the great snape debate,” “snape friend or foe,” and “is snape good or evil?

Good, evil, or a little bit of both, the Professor is definitely charismatic. Witness the many Snape fan sites in the Yahoo! Directory. The SnapeCast podcast even celebrates Snape’s “fabulous fashion sense.” This could have a bit to do with Snape’s onscreen incarnation; ladies between 35-54 are particularly inclined to seek out “alan rickman.”

Some searchers invoke Professor Snape’s tormented youth and seek out “snape’s worst memory,” “young severus snape,” and?how could you not feel a stab of sympathy over this one?? “snape and unrequited love.”

Come July 21, will Snape fans also have their hearts broken? Or will the Order of the Trust List stand vindicated and proud?

The Defenders of Severus Snape

The winners haven’t been announced, and already news of the Emmy nominations has produced??some belly-aching. Not to say many worthy shows didn’t get their props?everyone can release a collective??sigh??in regards to??the “Sopranos,” which received more category nods than any other show. Still, as the Academy repeatedly tinkers with its voting system, there will always be snubs (”The Wire“) and snorts (”Two and a Half Men”).

Which shows?and what talent?would truly get nominated if it were up to the public? We’ll tabulate those votes another day.??For now, let’s see where the trophy would alight for the nominees if votes were based on searches during the Emmy qualifying period.

Buzz Outstanding Drama

“Lost” once again goes missing, despite the Academy’s scramble to revamp its electoral process when it was overlooked last year. Meanwhile, William Shatner proves to have the most mysterious Midas touch in television history.

 1. Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
 2. Heroes” (NBC)
 3. Sopranos” (HBO)
 4. Boston Legal” (ABC)
 5. House” (FOX)

Buzz Outstanding Comedy
Truth be told, “Two and a Half Men” wouldn’t make the Buzz cut, but we have a soft spot for Jon Cryer. Or maybe it’s just??pity…

 1. The Office” (NBC)
 2. Entourage” (HBO)
 3. 30 Rock” (NBC)
 4. Ugly Betty” (ABC)
 5. Two and a Half Men” (CBS)

Buzz Outstanding Reality Competition
If the awards gave out just one Emmy, “American Idol” would be taking her home.

 1. American Idol” (FOX)
 2. Dancing with the Stars” (FOX)
 3. Project Runway” (Bravo)
 4. Amazing Race” (CBS)
 5. Top Chef” (Bravo)
